Book Review – Finding Happiness using “The Secret”

Will The book and movie “the Secret” help you finding happiness?

The Secret quickly became the best-selling self-help book of all time , making Rhonda Byrne world famous on self development . Before the movie and book were released, no one had ever heard of her . However the story was not the messenger , but the message itself that was presented by a collection of the best recognized success coaches internationally .  John Asaraf articulated  it most memorably : “You can have anything that you want, I don’t care how big it is.”

Bob Proctor introduces ‘The Secret’ as the law of attraction. He states that what’s in your life is there because of what you’re thinking about. Whether you’re focussed about what you do or don’t want, you’re creating your own reality by your foremost thoughts .

This Review of the Secret is to help you decide for yourself if purchasing and using this movie or is associated materials is a good use of your resources .

The Cast and Message of “The Secret”

Probably the most credible thing   is that some of the leading names in personal development decided to participate . Among them are : Bob Proctor,  Jack Canfield,   James Arthur Ray, John Asaraf, Joe Vitale and dozens of other people who have validated the power of the law of attraction by the results in their life . All of these people claim that the Law of attraction also worked for famous people like Leonardo Davinci, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein , JD Rockefeller, Dale Carnegie and many more .

As incredible as this seems , if you research the lives and writing of these historical figures,  you’ll findthat each of them held one belief in common : that we could manipulate the results which we attract into our lives by simply directing our thoughts to what we want. They also felt that there was a connectedness in the universe linking everything together . So by concentrating your thoughts on something , you actually tune your mind and body to that frequency and will attract energies which are consistent with what’s on your mind .

Obviously , the list of figures who held this belief and the deeds   they achieved in their lives makes it impossible to ignore the law of attraction and the impact of our thinking on our lives. Those thoughts impact your ability to be your own best self help

Something to Be Cautious of

Even though the principles being taught in ‘The Secret’ are useful , they don’t tell you the whole picture . They only give you the three steps of: ask, believe and receive. Yet when you study the lives of our greatest achievers , including advocates of the Law of attraction, it’s obvious that they have one thing in common . They all committed themselves to their goal with careful planning, ruthless persistence and a burning desire to get what they want.  That’s missing from  the “ask, believe, receive” instructions from the movie .

My guess is that the movie’s presenters know that there’s a whole lot more to it than that , and that in  a search for authentic happiness, you’ll get nowhere without creating energy and dedication towards achieving it. But, if you keep this in mind , I think The Secret would be a great addition to your book collection and would help  keep your thoughts positively centered on your dreams and goals while  working your action plan towards achieving it .
