lcd vs plasma tv

Nearly everyone was amazed by the plasma screen television from the very start. Really, why not? The new versions were thin and flat, and much more pleasant to look at than the bulkier, older models. Because the plasma screen television is leaner than the average set, it proved to be more flexible. Both the ceiling and the wall make great hanging spots for this type of ceiling, for example. This space saving feature made the newer model a favorite in showcases and other similar display arenas.

Comparing the technology in the older types of television with the newer plasma screen models is always an interesting task. The plasma screen television does not utilize any CRT (cathode ray tubes) in order to make its images. The technology behind CTR is the reason that many TV models before were always so big and bulky. As a replacement for the space-consuming CRT, the plasma screen television uses tiny glass compartments (or “cells”) that are injected with neon-xenon, which is a gas. Such gas is electrically charged while suspended in plasma, resulting in phosphors struck blue, green, and red. Images are produced through the phosphors, which erupts to cause the desired effect.

More often than not, people buy a plasma screen television because of its sheer size. If you focus on these features exclusively, however, you are inviting unpleasant counter-effects. The size range of a plasma screen television – anywhere around 32 to 63 inches, typically – often leads people to think that the bigger the set, the better, but that isn’t true. People do this without thinking about how large their room size for the television is going to be. After all, the sheer size of even the smallest set will be impressive, and it’s important to keep in mind placement when picking a set.

You’ll want to avoid sitting too close to the television screen, as it can cause several harmful health defects. People with a 32-37 inch TV should sit back at least six to ten feet. A greater distance of ten to fourteen feet is recommended for people purchasing a 42 to 46 inch television. A person who buys a plasma set that measures 50 inches should stay back fifteen feet. If you get a super large set that measures more than sixty inches, you need to keep at least a 25 feet distance.
