panasonic plasma television model no. th46pz85u

Not surprisingly, droves of people marveled at that the plasma screen television when it became available for purchase. Really, why not? The new versions were thin and flat, and much more pleasant to look at than the bulkier, older models. The new plasma screen television featured a good deal more flexibility than the older bulkier sets ever dreamed of having. What this means is that you had greater choice in where to place your new television, including the wall or the ceiling. Because of these reasons, showcases loved putting the plasma screen on display, since it took up so little space.

Comparing the technology in the older types of television with the newer plasma screen models is always an interesting task. There is no use of the old image-producing standby, cathode ray tubes (CRT) in a plasma screen television. This CTR is the reason most TV models, before the invention of its plasma counterparts, are big and space-consuming. Instead of CRT, the plasma screen television uses glass components (or “cells”) that are injected with neon-xenon, a gas. This gas is then suspended in plasma and when electrically charged it can strike phosphors colored blue, green, and red. And when these phosphors erupt, an image is produced.

The size of a plasma screen television is a draw that makes many people purchase them. However, these features may have some counter-effect if consumers let themselves be blinded by its capabilities. Though you can easily purchase a plasma screen television that is anywhere from 32″ to 63″, you should not automatically assume that bigger is a better deal. Always take into consideration the size of the room where you will be putting it. With the size of these sets, it will be an imposing figure in your entertainment room and so it is important to put it where you think it is appropriate.

Most of us have heard from our mothers that sitting too close to the TV can be dangerous. It’s important for people with 32-37 inch sets to keep their distance a comfortable 6-10 feet. If you are looking for a set that is 42-46 inches, then you should go with 10-14 feet. A full fifteen feet should be the distance that you keep from a 50-60 inch set. Experts further believe that you should stay back at least 25 feet from any TV that is 60″ or larger.
