plasma television above fireplace decorating idea

People have been in awe of the plasma screen television from the moment it hit the market. Who wouldn’t want one of the new, thin, and flat versions of the TV instead of the thick, bulky, and outdated ones? Because of their new build, the plasma screen television were more flexible, and therefore more desirable. What this means is that you had greater choice in where to place your new television, including the wall or the ceiling. Since they did not take up as much room as their counterparts, many showcases loved to put them up on display.

What type of technology creates such a radical advance in our movie and television viewing? The plasma screen television does not utilize any CRT (cathode ray tubes) in order to make its images. It was because of the CTR that most of the television models were so large. Instead of the CRT, the plasma screen television is comprised of “cells” or glass compartments injected with a gas called neon-xenon. This gas is then suspended in plasma and when electrically charged it can strike phosphors colored blue, green, and red. An image results when the phosphors errupt.

More often than not, people buy a plasma screen television because of its sheer size. However, these features may have some counter-effect if consumers let themselves be blinded by its capabilities. A plasma screen television can be 32″, 40″, 42″, 46″, 50″, 61″, or even 63″, and bigger is not always better. The main consideration is what the room size for the television will be. The urge to go with “biggest is best” might be soothed if you keep in mind that the sets are going to loom large no matter which size you get, due to their impressive build and design.

Most of us have heard from our mothers that sitting too close to the TV can be dangerous. If you are getting a set that is around 32 to 37 inches, then you should always keep a distance of six to ten feet. TV sets that are 42-46 inch should command a distance of 10 to 14 feet. A full fifteen feet should be the distance that you keep from a 50-60 inch set. And for sets measuring up to 60-inch and more, a distance of at least 25 feet should be observed.
