plasma verses lcd television

Ever since the plasma screen television first became available, people have been impressed by the item. When viewed next to the heavier models that took up more room, the thin and flat new model was definitely an upgrade. The new plasma screen television featured a good deal more flexibility than the older bulkier sets ever dreamed of having. Both the ceiling and the wall make great hanging spots for this type of ceiling, for example. Due to its incredible space saving design, this newer model was an immediate favorite among many showcases.

So what is the technology behind such a radical advancement in the way we enjoy our favorite shows and movies? For the plasma screen television, the usage of cathode ray tube, or CRT, is no longer necessary in producing the image. The need to consume so much space that the older models had was due to their reliance on CTR. Instead of the CRT, the plasma screen television is comprised of “cells” or glass compartments injected with a gas called neon-xenon. The neon-xenon is then suspended in plasma, which strikes blue, green, and red phosphors when electrically charged. An image results when the phosphors errupt.

Because of the size of a plasma screen television, many people are inspired to buy them for that reason alone. Features can easily have negative consequences for those that are blinded by the positives. Though you can easily purchase a plasma screen television that is anywhere from 32″ to 63″, you should not automatically assume that bigger is a better deal. You have to remember what size room you are going to be putting the set into. The immense size of these sets will make the television an imposing figure in the entertainment room, so you should put it somewhere that is appropriate.

Most of us have heard from our mothers that sitting too close to the TV can be dangerous. For any television that is 32″-37″, you should maintain a space of at least 6-10 feet. TV sets that are 42-46 inch should command a distance of 10 to 14 feet. A person who buys a plasma set that measures 50 inches should stay back fifteen feet. For the very large televisions – ones that measure at least 60 inches – you should stay back twenty five feet or more.
