From the beginning, when the plasma screen television hit the market, everyone was in awe. This is understandable, as the thin and flat make of this style of TV is much different from the bulky and outdated versions. Because the plasma screen television is leaner than the average set, it proved to be more flexible. Unlike traditional televisions, for example, you can mount this type on the wall, or hang it from your ceiling. Due to its incredible space saving design, this newer model was an immediate favorite among many showcases.
Plasma televisions require a completely different type of technology than the older models. Unlike the average set, the plasma screen television does not use cathode ray tubes (CRT) in producing its images. The need to consume so much space that the older models had was due to their reliance on CTR. Instead of the CRT, the plasma screen television is comprised of cells or glass compartments injected with a gas called neon-xenon. The neon-xenon is then suspended in plasma, which strikes blue, green, and red phosphors when electrically charged. An image results when the phosphors errupt.
More often than not, people buy a plasma screen television because of its sheer size. Features can easily have negative consequences for those that are blinded by the positives. Though you can easily purchase a plasma screen television that is anywhere from 32″ to 63″, you should not automatically assume that bigger is a better deal. People do this without thinking about how large their room size for the television is going to be. Picking a decent sized set – not necessarily the largest – will still give you a television whose presence will be impressive in most anyone’s entertainment room, and placing it in an appropriate place is important.
Most of us have heard from our mothers that sitting too close to the TV can be dangerous. For any television that is 32″-37″, you should maintain a space of at least 6-10 feet. You can decrease your probability of getting a health disease with a 42 to 46 machine if you keep at least a ten to fourteen feet distance from the machine. For people who will buy the plasma measuring 50-inch or more, it is better to stay at a distance of 15 feet. And for sets measuring up to 60-inch and more, a distance of at least 25 feet should be observed.
