Nearly everyone was amazed by the plasma screen television from the very start. Why wouldn’t anyone be drawn to these types of TV? Plasma televisions require a completely different type of technology than the older models. Images are not produced in the plasma screen television through any cathode ray tubes, or CRT. As a replacement for the space-consuming CRT, the plasma screen television uses tiny glass compartments (or “cells”) that are injected with neon-xenon, which is a gas. You have the neon-xenon which is then suspended in the plasma and strikes blue, green, and red colored phosphors whenever it becomes charged with electricity. It is because of the phosphorus, which erupts, that an image is produced.
You may know people who have purchased a plasma screen television due simply to the size alone. If you focus on these features exclusively, however, you are inviting unpleasant counter-effects. The size range of a plasma screen television – anywhere around 32 to 63 inches, typically – often leads people to think that the bigger the set, the better, but that isn’t true. Always take into consideration the size of the room where you will be putting it. Picking a decent sized set – not necessarily the largest – will still give you a television whose presence will be impressive in most anyone’s entertainment room, and placing it in an appropriate place is important.
Many different studies have been cited that show the dangers of sitting too close to the TV. If you have a 32 to 37-inch, then stay back from six to ten feet. However, if you are going a little larger, with a 42-46 inch set, then increase your distance to ten to fourteen feet. A person who buys a plasma set that measures 50 inches should stay back fifteen feet. Experts further believe that you should stay back at least 25 feet from any TV that is 60″ or larger.
