television plasma & lcd televisions

When the plasma screen television first became available, it instantly began to attract people’s interest. And who would not be? The thin and flat countenance of the TV is a sharp contrast to the bulky and rather outdated versions of this home appliance. You could expect and get a lot more flexibility out of a plasma screen television than you could their predecessors. With the new models, the increase in space was an extra benefit, as you could now hoist your television in the air or attach to the ceiling. Not only did homeowners love this feature, but so too did many showcase rooms, who featured the newer model heavily, as it required far less space than the older models.

What type of technology creates such a radical advance in our movie and television viewing? For the plasma screen television, the usage of cathode ray tube, or CRT, is no longer necessary in producing the image. The amount of space required to house a television in the pre-plasma era is mostly to blame on the CTR that was included. Instead of the CRT, the plasma screen television is comprised of “cells” or glass compartments injected with a gas called neon-xenon. Through the plasma, the gas is suspended. An image results when the phosphors errupt.

Many times, people purchase a plasma screen television due to its sheer impressive size. If you focus on these features exclusively, however, you are inviting unpleasant counter-effects. Though you can easily purchase a plasma screen television that is anywhere from 32″ to 63″, you should not automatically assume that bigger is a better deal. People do this without thinking about how large their room size for the television is going to be. The urge to go with “biggest is best” might be soothed if you keep in mind that the sets are going to loom large no matter which size you get, due to their impressive build and design.

Many different studies have been cited that show the dangers of sitting too close to the TV. For any television that is 32″-37″, you should maintain a space of at least 6-10 feet. TV sets that are 42-46 inch should command a distance of 10 to 14 feet. A person who buys a plasma set that measures 50 inches should stay back fifteen feet. And for sets measuring up to 60-inch and more, a distance of at least 25 feet should be observed.
